New australians
Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE welcomes all new Australians.
Courses for new Australians
Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE offers a range of English language courses to help recently arrived non-English speaking migrants and refugees, and adult learners from non-English speaking backgrounds to develop language and literacy skills for further study, employment and integration in the community.
English is Australia's national language. People in Australia speak many languages but to take part fully in Australian life it's important to speak and understand some English.
With English, it can also be easier to get a job and become independent.
English is also needed to become an Australian citizen.
Support for new Australians
Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE recognises the importance of Australia's cultural diversity. Our Migrant English team works with students to put on campus activities as part of bringing people together to celebrate Australia's community harmony, participation and cultural diversity.
Contact our literacy and migrant English team - they provide support to people with literacy and numeracy difficulties and from non-English speaking backgrounds.
