How to apply for a visa

International students are required to obtain a student visa for courses undertaken over a period of more than 12 weeks.

Visa information is available from the Australian Embassy, High Commission or Consulate General in your country.

  1. Go to the nearest Australian Embassy, High Commission or Consulate General in your county to apply for your Student Visa.
    Take with you:
    • your receipt for fees from SQIT
    • your Confirmation of Enrolment letter from SQIT
    • your electronic confirmation of enrolment (eCoE) and
    • your current passport.
  2. Once you have your Student Visa arrange your departure and travel to Brisbane or Toowoomba. If you would like to be met at the airport you must complete the airport reception form and fax or email it to our office at least 10 days prior to your departure.
  3. Call, email, fax or write to the International Programs Office to advise them about your successful visa and departure details.

If you have requested it the International Programs Office will send back to you confirmation details about your temporary accommodation or airport reception.

For applicants who are already in Australia, it may be possible to change your visa. For all enquiries and further information, please contact the Department of Immigration and Citizenship.
