Student progress requirements
All international students at Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE are regularly monitored to make sure that satisfactory course progress takes place and students complete their course within the required timeframe.
Student progress requirements
-
progress for each competency is formally assessed at the end of each study period (semester)
-
students are required to successfully complete all competencies attempted within the semester to meet course requirements and be allowed to re-enrol without restriction in the following semester
-
throughout the course all international students' academic performance and attendance is monitored in accordance with the National Code of Practice for Registration Authorities and Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2007
-
a minimum of 80% attendance is required throughout the duration of the course and
-
where a student has failed to meet course progress for semester (either academic performance of attendance) and the intervention strategy (as negotiated through a student support plan) has not identified suitable outcomes to progress through the course, written notification is provided to the student advising that they will be reported to DIAC. Students have 20 working days to appeal the decision.
