Sustainability at SQIT
SQIT is going green!
Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE recognises the importance of incorporating sustainable practices in everything we do. Our institute strives to provide quality training to the current population, without compromising the needs of future generations. Our commitment
Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE is committed to:
- operate in a way that minimises our ecological footprint
- train our students with the practical green-skills required to work sustainably in their chosen field.
As a progressive institution, we are developing a framework of operational standards that will enable our staff, students and teachers to adopt a coordinated approach to ensuring a sustainable future. This includes practical measures of energy and water conservation, responsible purchasing and waste disposal. Our regional connections in business and community enable us to lead new practical ways in empowering others to live and work in a sustainable way. Most importantly we are designing training so that our graduates will have the knowledge and practical green skills to produce, install and maintain the technology required to support more sustainable living and business.
We understand we are on a journey and we are striving to continuously improve and challenge previous ways of thinking that we know will lead to positive change. SQIT is building the foundations to ensure we play a part in our region's ecological sustainability and that our students are skilled to take advantage of the green opportunities which are emerging in new and established industries.
