What is Open Day?
Open Day is held each year to encourage people from all walks of life to visit the Toowoomba Campus to look, learn and be inspired by the many career and training options offered right at your local TAFE.
Every year, our enthusiastic students and staff create interactive displays for school students and the general public to sample 'hands on' training as it occurs at TAFE and in the workplace.
It is your unique opportunity to explore the campus and get a taste of what TAFE life is like before you make a decision about your future study.
Our highly qualified teaching staff and career counsellors are available all day to talk with you about career and training pathways so you can choose the training that best suits your requirements.

Guided tours
Open Day is also a normal teaching and learning day, so take advantage of our popular guided industry-specific tours and see how our campus operates; marvel at our purpose-built education facilities designed to help you get the most out of your study experience; and get a feel for the wonderful learning environment our students enjoy as you see our students taking part in their classes.
Try-a-trade
In addition to the training area displays and tours, you also have the chance participate in our try-a-trade activities.
Try-a-trade allows you to meet and talk with our apprentices and teaching staff to learn how vocational education and training offer more choices for the future.
Various displays set up throughout the campus provide a wide range of opportunities to 'have-a-go' at different trade and skill areas. The displays are entertaining, informative and offer you access to some of the basic skills involved with a range of trades.
WorldSkills Australia competition
Open Day is also your invitation to watch our region's best young skill and trade professionals battle it out for gold at the Southern Queensland WorldSkills Australia Regional competition 2009.
WorldSkills Australia is a not-for-profit organisation that runs skill and trade competitions for young skilled apprentices of Australia.
The Southern Queensland Regional competition will be held at two locations over two separate days. The majority of vocational categories will be held in conjunction with Open Day at our Toowoomba campus.
