TAFE's future masterchefs preparing to plate up for Mayoral Prayer Breakfast

Wednesday, 9 May 2012

Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE's (SQIT) Toowoomba Hospitality and Events students will be slaving over hot stoves next Tuesday 15 May from 6.00am for this year's Mayoral Prayer Breakfast at Rumours International.

Approximately 40 SQIT students will be joined by St Saviour's and St Joseph's experienced hospitality students to provide full catering and table service at the 20th anniversary of the annual community fundraiser.

The event typically attracts 800 guests and has been catered by SQIT students since inception.

Hospitality teacher Glen Zacher said the Institute was always proud to be associated with activities that give back to the community, and that guests would be treated to a pleasant dining experience.

"Participating students are studying Hospitality, Events and Kitchen Operations at Certificate and Diploma levels so they're on their way to becoming highly skilled in food preparation and serving procedures," Mr Zacher said.

The menu includes a hot, hearty breakfast with tea and coffee, and guests are advised to arrive with an empty stomach or an extra belt hole at the ready in order to try all of the delicious food on offer.

Tickets to the event can be purchased through Toowoomba Regional Council.
